river road house
The River Road House responds to the complex and contemporary requirements of a flood zone property. The exposed concrete peers raise the first floor above the FEMA flood zone. The one story house has a breezeway between the main living space and guest building, which allows the owners to shut down the unused guest wing. Small windows at eye and clerestory heights face the road for privacy while still allowing western light and a cross ventilation. Large glass walls of windows and doors face the river and the vast raised deck to the east.
